I am experienced to support adults with Anxiety, Depression, Perfectionism, Low Self Esteem and Stress and have a special interest in PTSD & Trauma.

GROUNDED IN SCIENCE, GUIDED BY COLLABORATION - THERAPY FOR AUTHENTIC CHANGE AND GROWTH

Often when we experience emotional difficulties we can feel stuck. Our sense of self and identity can also feel fragmented or at times lost. We understand through research that the most effective therapies will promote and bring about change. The change that we may often seek is a sense of feeling whole and more connected to ourselves, people and places we value. I recognise whilst navigating this we need to feel heard, have a way of making sense of what we are feeling and gain a sense of hope for the future. I hope to offer you just this. I have an adaptive style, I would aim to adapt myself and the therapy to you so that the support feels bespoke and individualised to you. We would work 'shoulder to shoulder' at each stage of the therapy, at your pace to meet your therapy goals and bring about change that is important to you. Together we will navigate any setbacks and celebrate the successes. I would value and encourage your contributions throughout our work together and aim to empower you. I would strive to create a collaborative and supportive therapeutic space.

CBT

For Anxiety, Depression, Stress, Perfectionism, Low Self-Esteem & PTSD.

Bring about change through developing balanced thought patterns, reducing cognitive bias, thinking errors and maintaining behaviours.

CBT suggests that Depression and Anxiety are maintained due to a bi-directional feedback between our physical sensations, thoughts, emotions and behaviours. These are often automatic responses and support us in the short term but not in the long term.

CBT is a practical, experiential approach which utilises strategies to develop alternative thought patterns and behaviours which in turn reduce distress and support in the long term.

Although predominantly focused in the here and now CBT does explore and incorporates how our past experiences have contributed to what we are currently feeling. CBT is a NICE recommended approach for Depression, Anxiety and PTSD.

EMDR

For Trauma, PTSD.

Bring about change through developing resources and the processing of unprocessed traumatic events.

EMDR is a NICE recommended approach for Trauma and PTSD. Research is also starting to indicate It can also be beneficial for Depression and Anxiety.

EMDR suggests that psychological difficulties and symptoms of PTSD, Depression and Anxiety are experienced due to previous experiences not being fully processed in the brain. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation (BLS) either through tracking eye movement side to side, tapping or through sound to support and achieve adaptive information processing. It requires you to briefly tune into target memories that are linked to your current difficulties whilst using BLS to process the memory. Through this process feelings of distress and the vividness of the memories reduce.
