What CBT Helps With

CBT is an evidence based, NICE recommended and effective approach for PTSD, Anxiety and Depression. A practical approach to developing alternative thinking patterns and behaviours to interrupt and reduce feelings of PTSD, Anxiety and Depression. CBT can support with a number of areas, I am experienced in using CBT for:

  • PTSD

  • Trauma

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Panic

  • OCD

  • Stress

  • Perfectionism

  • Low Self Esteem

Who CBT is For

CBT theory rests on the understanding that feelings of PTSD, Anxiety and Depression are experienced due to the interaction between our emotions, thoughts, feelings, behaviours and physical sensations. The vicious cycle that occurs when we experience PTSD, Anxiety and Depression is often automatic. It is not your fault you are feeling this way there are however things you can do to interrupt the vicious cycle and change how you are feeling. CBT is beneficial if you enjoy an experiential approach to therapy and are seeking to develop a balanced thought pattern and either reintroduce activities that were once enjoyable or to reduce behaviours that you may be doing due to feelings of anxiety or depression which in the long run leave you feeling worse.

How CBT Works

CBT works through experiential learning and the development of practical strategies to develop alternative thinking patterns and behaviours that are maintaining feelings of PTSD, Anxiety and Depression. CBT can be an empowering and effective approach.

What you can Expect

Initial appointments are used to develop a shared understanding around what you would like support with, we will explore past experiences that have contributed and identify factors that are maintaining your problem. We will then develop a therapy plan which links your formulation and therapy goals together. The sessions will then be focussed on developing CBT techniques, having time to practice the techniques between the sessions is essential. CBT therapy is a change therapy, time to implement change between the sessions is where you get the most from the therapy. â€‹â€‹

Why choose Me?

I am an experienced CBT Therapist holding full accreditation with the BABCP. I have used CBT therapeutically since 2014 and supervise other CBT therapists. Some people I have worked with previously had a negative experience of CBT and will report a very different experience and outcome working with me. I am passionate about CBT and confident with the impact it can have. I am adaptive in my approach and will strive to make the therapy bespoke and tailored to you so you can get as much as you can from the therapy.

Online vs. In Person

Research indicates that CBT is just as effective online as it is in person. I work with some people that aren't local to Somerset, being online gives us the opportunity to connect and work together. Others who live locally prefer the element of meeting in person. I offer the choice of meeting online or in person to suit your needs.
