When the Weight of Success Feels too Heavy

The Dependable One. The Strong One. The Self Reliant One.

To the outside world, you are the person who has it all under control. You are the one people turn to when things get difficult. But behind that capability is a nervous system stuck in a silent, permanent "on" position or 'survival mode'. You have spent years managing a great deal on your own, pushing through the fatigue and holding the line. But your body is starting to send a different message. Your body is beginning to protest the cost of your own strength.

When Your Body Starts to Signal "No More" You might notice it in the small things first. Sleep that is light or easily brokenfeeling of being constantly on high alert, headaches, tension in your shoulders, or digestive issues. This isn't a lack of willpower; this is your nervous system quietly (or not so quietly) signalling that it can no longer carry this weight alone.

The Trap of High Standards

The very standards that helped you succeed are now the ones keeping you trapped. They have kept you driven and composed, but they also fuel a relentless fear: of failure, of rejection, or of being "found out." When your identity is built on being the one who "can," the idea of being the one who "needs" feels like a risk you can’t afford to take.

The Brave Step of Being Seen

If you are used to hyper-independence, seeking support can feel more dangerous than continuing to struggle. It feels like a crack in the armour.

But there is a middle ground. I offer evidence-based therapy that respects your pace.

  • CBT helps us look at the mental blueprints the "shoulds" and "musts" that are no longer serving you.

  • EMDR works at the deeper, nervous-system level to process the underlying stress or trauma that keeps you in survival mode.

Therapy is not about taking away your ambition or your strength. I’m here to help you carry them differently, so they don't have to come at the expense of your well-being.

Whether you're navigating trauma, anxiety, or chronic stress, you don’t have to navigate this alone, I can help.

My Experience

My own lived experience of being self reliant and the 'strong one' has led me to specialise in this space. I know that self-sufficiency and independence is often a survival strategy, not just a personality trait.

I have spent 14 years in the NHS and private practice learning how to help individuals like you  soften these patterns without losing your ambition, your strength, or your integrity.

TESTIMONIALS

"Eve has changed my life - though I'm sure she would argue that I've changed my life, she's only supported me in the process. I do things with ease now that seemed impossible a couple of years' ago. And I have confidence that I will concur the things I still find challenging. I no longer live in permanent fight or flight, and most days my OCD and PTSD feels manageable. I would never have believed that I'd be here, finding such joy in life, with where I was at in 2022. Eve helped me find, hold onto, and achieve hope. I will never know how to properly thank her."
