CBT, EMDR Therapy & EMDR Intensives for Hyper Independent & High Achieving Adults with Trauma, Anxiety & Chronic Stress

You are successful because you have learnt to cope alone.
The problem is ... your nervous system didn't got the message you are safe now.

If you are exhausted from always being the strong one, I can help you overcome anxiety, trauma and chronic stress without losing the strengths that have helped them succeed. I provide CBT, EMDR therapy and EMDR Intensives in Somerset and online across the UK.

I would be honoured to be alongside you.
Eve x

On the outside you look like you are coping.

Inside, you are exhausted.

Support for high achievers living with anxiety, trauma and chronic stress.

From the outside, you seem to be coping. You are capable, dependable and used to carrying responsibility. You keep going because that is what you have always done.

But behind the scenes, things feel different.

Perhaps your mind never really switches off. You struggle to sleep, your body feels tense, and relaxing feels almost impossible. You push through exhaustion and overwhelm.

You may have become so used to coping alone that asking for help doesn’t come naturally.

If you are reading this and recognising yourself, you are in the right place.

You might notice...

✔ You’re always the one others depend on.
✔ You find it difficult to ask for help.
✔ You struggle to switch off, even when you’re exhausted.
✔ You feel guilty resting or saying no.
✔ Your mind is always planning, solving or worrying.
✔ Sleep doesn’t leave you feeling refreshed.
✔ You carry tension in your body without even noticing.
✔ You keep everything together for everyone else while feeling overwhelmed yourself.

There is a reason this feels so familiar

Many of the people I work with discover that these aren’t simply personality traits.
They’re patterns that often develop after trauma, difficult relationships or prolonged periods of stress.
Sometimes this is described as hyper-independence—learning to rely on yourself because, at some point, it felt safer than relying on others.
It may have helped you become resilient, capable and successful.
But it can also make it incredibly difficult to relax, trust support or believe you don’t have to carry everything on your own.
If you’d like to understand this pattern in more depth, I’ve written more about it here.

About Eve

I’m Eve, a BABCP Accredited CBT Psychotherapist, EMDR Europe Accredited Practitioner and BABP Accredited CBT Supervisor.

My own lived experience of being self reliant and the 'strong one' has led me to specialise in this space. I know that self-sufficiency and independence is often a survival strategy, not just a personality trait.

I have spent 14 years in the NHS and private practice learning how to help individuals like you soften these patterns without losing your ambition, your strength, or your integrity.

WHAT CLIENTS SAY

"The best investment I have ever made in myself — and one I never realised I needed.

I first approached Eve because I was experiencing feelings of frustration and inequality within my marriage. I wanted to better understand what I was feeling and, more importantly, find a way to resolve it.

Through my sessions with Eve, I gained a level of self-understanding that I had never experienced before. For the first time in my life, I truly understand why I am the way I am. I have also come to appreciate aspects of myself and my life that I had previously overlooked or undervalued.

I genuinely feel like a happier, stronger, and more self-aware version of myself.

Eve has an incredible ability to get to the heart of an issue. Time and time again, she would articulate thoughts and patterns that I had struggled to make sense of for years. Her insights are remarkably accurate, and the way she explains things makes complex emotions and experiences feel understandable and manageable. Many of the things she has said during our sessions will stay with me for life.

The EMDR work was simply transformative. I would recommend it to anyone. The changes I experienced through the process were profound, and I can wholeheartedly say that working with Eve has been the best investment I have ever made in myself.

My time with Eve has given me a deeper understanding of who I am, what truly matters to me, and how to build healthier, more fulfilling relationships. I am incredibly grateful for her guidance, support, and expertise. Thank you, Eve, the impact of our work together will stay with me forever x"

Why Adaptive Psychotherapy?

One of my core beliefs is that your ability to adapt has helped you survive.
The qualities that have enabled you to achieve, care for others and keep going are real strengths.

Therapy isn’t about taking those strengths away.

It’s about helping you adapt in ways that allow you to feel calmer, safer and more connected - so you are no longer living as though you have to manage everything alone.

That’s the thinking behind Adaptive Psychotherapy.
